Andrew Young, born in 1932, is a distinguished Black American civil rights leader, politician, and diplomat. He emerged as a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement, working closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a key strategist and organizer.

Young played a crucial role in the passage of civil rights legislation, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He also served as Executive Director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC).

In addition to his civil rights work, Young pursued a career in politics, serving as a congressman from Georgia and later as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations under President Jimmy Carter. He played a significant role in shaping U.S. foreign policy during his tenure.
